​Dr. Thomas Slaughter II was born and raised in Brownwood, Texas. Dr. Slaughter served in both WWII and the Korean War as well as graduated from Texas Chiropractic College before settling in Calera, Alabama. In the 1950's he established the "Chiropractic Center" in the same location where "Generations Chiropractic and Kinesiology" stands today.

Dr. Slaughter discovered chiropractic as a child when he was diagnosed with an illness that his medical doctor claimed was untreatable. He spent his elementary school days suffering at home without hope for recovery. Dr. Slaughter's mother, refusing to accept this outcome for her son, found a local chiropractor who welcomed Dr. Slaughter as a patient. With chiropractic adjustments, simple dietary changes, and nutritional support, Dr. Slaughter not only recovered but went on to live a long and healthy life. Inspired by this chiropractor’s knowledge of health and human physiology, Dr. Slaughter, along with his older sister, pursued fulfilling careers in chiropractic.
Dr. Slaughter was known for his firm yet gentle demeanor and his ability to bring hope and healing to those who were told healing was impossible. Patients traveled from all over the state to seek his care. His ability to identify and correct the root of a patient's dysfunction allowed him to achieve what many described as "miracles."

Today, Dr. Slaughter’s legacy continues through his son and granddaughter, who carry on his work and serve the Calera area, bringing hope and healing to those who walk through the same door he built over 50 years ago.
